Tencent To Become Largest Shareholder Of Funcom

Tencent, a leading internet company with a strong online gaming sector, has entered in a share purchase agreement of 29% of Funcom from Norway-based KGJ Capital AS. Funcom is an independent developer and publisher of games such as Conan ExilesThe Secret World, and Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. This acquisition will make Tencent the largest shareholder. Funcom is listed as Funcom SE on the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE: Funcom).

Funcom has recently announce that the company has acquired the exclusive rights to develop and publish PC and console games based on the DUNE IP for the next six years. They are already working on an open world sandbox game set in the DUNE universe.
