Saber Interactive has announced a Switch version of its well-liked 2019 co-op shooter, World War Z. The news comes alongside an announcement of World War Z: Game of the Year Edition, which is set to come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. According to IGN, the Game of the Year Edition includes new weapon packs, character packs, and an additional three-mission PvE episode set in Marseille, France. This new version also includes all the DLC released for World War Z to this point.
Saber Interactive has released and ported several Switch games to this point, including NBA 2K Playgrounds, Vampyr, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered, and The Witcher 3. Despite bringing so many multiplatform titles to Switch – including The Witcher 3 – Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch told IGN that getting World War Z to run on Switch has been particularly difficult. “Keep in mind that we are rendering scenes with hundreds of enemies and four players online,” he said. “Getting this to run on the Switch is the hardest thing that we have had to do.”
The Game of the Year Edition is set to his PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via the Epic Games Store) on May 5. The Switch version has no release date or additional details available. For more on World War Z, check out our review of the base game.
