The latest issue of Famitsu has plenty of Final Fantasy VII Remake love, thanks to an interview with various members of the development team. The big spread uncovered details about a cut battle with Roche and why Avalanche’s hideout didn’t make an appearance.
The article also confirmed part two of the game is now in full development, which isn’t exactly surprising, but does offer some peace of mind. The blog of Ryokutya2089 posted some of the feature and Twitter user @aitaikimochi provided a translation for the Famitsu text. Here’s what director Tetsuya Nomura said about how progress is going:
“We know that everyone wants the next installment quickly. We would also like to deliver it as soon as possible. Since we were also able to see the line of quality from the first installment, we hope to make the next installment even better in quality that can make for an even better experience. We would like to get it out as soon as possible, so please wait for it. I think we can clearly convey the direction when we officially announce the next installment.”
Here is Kitase’s comment about the decision to add surprises and changes to the FF7R story. Excerpt is from the FF7R Famitsu special feature interview (released July 22nd, 2020).
