Though Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be on shelves until April 6, 2020, developer CD Projekt Red is already planning on developing expansions to continue exploring Night City and its characters. In an interview with Prima Games, UI coordinator Alvin Liu said, “We are talking about expansions in the future. We want to make sure everything’s complete, but we also want to build open worlds. I know when I was playing The Witcher 3 and I finished everything, I still want to know what everyone was up to. I think we’re going to have opportunities like that as well for Cyberpunk 2077.”
He also makes it clear that the game will be finished upon release, and that these expansions will not be used to finish the game. “We’re not withholding content, we’re not withholding story for the future to try to, you know, monetize it or sell it in pieces or anything like that. You’re going to get the whole, full value game here.”
Fans of The Witcher games are familiar with CD Projekt Red’s expansions, with The Witcher 3’s expansions packing as much content as a whole separate game.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
