Cyberpunk 2077 has a weirdly specific character creation tool that I may or may not have spent far too much time in, but once you make your V? That’s your V for the entire game unless you’re willing to start from scratch. While there’s no official way to go back and make any changes post-creation, this Cyberpunk 2077 mod allows players to play around with different hairstyles to perfect that personal touch.
This week’s Mod Corner is centered on this particular mod because I was looking for something just like this over the weekend. A friend was playing and really didn’t like her pigtailed V, so we took to Nexus Mods to see what other players were able to come up with. Uploaded on Sunday, this mod is called “User-friendly hairstyle changer” and it’s a pretty straightforward process post-creation.
The mod in question works for both Male and Female V, allowing players to go into their save files (on PC) and swap out the numeric assignment for the selected set:
The current mod is only for hairstyles, but so many were asking for additional features. The mod creator mentioned that they are looking into modifying this mod to also tackle beards, hair colors, and even facial features, but at this time it is limited to just different hairstyles.
It’s pretty easy to use. Once the initial hairstyle is selected, simply go into your save file and click on the Open File option, which should open your save folder. Once the save folder is open, click on the most recent save and double click sav.dat file in order to select the new hairstyle desired (numerically marked in the images above) and hit save.
As usual, when doing any modding make sure to backup your saves in case of corruption by file or by the 8 MB cap that was recently discovered.
I had a lot of email requests for a mod like this specifically for Cyberpunk 2077, so hopefully this helps! If you’re looking for any other game mod recommendations, feel free to hit me up in the comment section below! You can also check out some of our other Mod Corner highlights below:
