The Games Done Quick community came together (from their homes) and put on a show for a good cause. Over the span of three days and across 50 different speed runs, the Corona Relief Done Quick marathon brought in $400,774 for Direct Relief, with an average donation of $64.45.
The runs, which were all conducted from different homes, ranged from classics like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past to recent releases like Ori and the Will of the Wisps. If you missed the show, you can still donate at Games Done Quick’s page. And you can watch some of the archived runs over at Twitch.
Direct Relief’s COVID-19 mission is it “get protective gear and critical care medications to as may health workers as possible, as quickly as possible, with emergency deliveries leaving daily for medical facilities across the U.S.”
The amount donated by speed run fans will hopefully go a long way in helping those in need during the pandemic.
