With a Gears of War movie far along enough to have found a screenwriter, it’s open season for fans to start discussing which actors may be cast in the series’ roles. The most popular character, of course, is Marcus Fenix, and one actor, Dave Bautista (Brax in Guardians of the Galaxy) really wants the role, though it may not come to be.
Bautista recently tweeted in response to a post asking for him to play the role with response that put a damper on the idea of him playing the role. “[Hollywood is] listening,” he said, quickly following up by saying the studios in charge of casting decisions don’t care.Β “Believe me when I say Iβve tried everything to make this happen.”
Theyβre listening. And they could give AF! π.. but thank you for the support. Believe me when I say Iβve tried everything to make this happen. https://t.co/8THxKLkbdV

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of the actor being interested, of course. Back in June Gears 5 developer The Coalition’s studio head, Rod Fergusson, said he was aware of the demand for the actor to play the role, but that he had no say in whether he’d be cast.
So for now, it doesn’t look like it’s happening, but who knows! Stranger things have happened.
