Since it’s announcement at BlizzConline, we’ve all been waiting for a Diablo II: Resurrected release date. Well, today Blizzard revealed that Diablo II: Resurrected arrives on September 23, 2021. My experiences with the title thus far have been incredibly promising, an immaculately reconstructed modern-day update that sits comfortably directly over the old game. Check out more of my nostalgia and immense respect for what the Vicarious Visions team is crafting here.

Diablo II: Resurrected launches on numerous platforms on September 23. You can take on every evil imaginable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC. Of significant note, an open beta for the game is scheduled to take place in August, allowing players to take on the roles of Amazon, Paladin, Druid(!), Sorceress, and Barbarian. Assassin and Necromancer won’t be available until launch.
Diablo II: Resurrected comes in two different versions, one being the standalone core game at a suggested retail price of $39.99 or as part of the Diablo Prime Evil Collection. The Collection comes with Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo III with Reaper of Souls and the Necromancer DLC, and a Mephisto pet and Hatred’s Grasp wings for Diablo III. Essentially, this lets you pick up Diablo II: Resurrected with Diablo III and all of its content for $20 more. If you’ve somehow missed out on Diablo III over the last few years, this is probably a pretty good opportunity to snag it with the “new” game.
Diablo II: Resurrected contains Diablo II and the Lord of Destruction expansion, and includes some quality of life improvements over the original. While none of these changes alter the spirit of the game, they do allow players to opt-in to collect gold by walking over it instead of having to click which should save some fingers and wrists, and utilize an account-level stash. The stash lets players transfer equipment and resources without the need to create “mule” characters to hold all the extra goodies.
Preordering the game gives players early access to the open beta coming in August, but we don’t know precise dates or timing on that currently.
