Netflix's The Witcher Set To Resume Season 2 Production In August 2

Following a massively successful first season on Netflix, The Witcher is set to resume production on its second season. In March, The Witcher became one of the first series to halt production in wake of now-rampant COVID-19 pandemic. Today, Netflix confirmed the second season will resume production on August 17.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra. Its debut season premiered on Netflix on December 20, 2019 to strong reception and even stronger viewership, with Netflix touting more than 76 million viewers watching at least two minutes of the series within the first month. The renewed interest in the franchise also spiked sales for 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

While we don’t know if this production delay will also delay the scheduled release of the second season on Netflix, The Witcher‘s sophomore effort was announced for release sometime in 2021.
