The duos section of Fortnite’s World Cup have come to a close, with winners taking home slices of the $30 million prize pool. One of them is 15-year-old Jaden “Wolfiez” Ashman, who along with his partner Dave Jong, are splitting $2.25 million among themselves after coming in second place.
What’s most interesting of all is that according to Polygon, Ashman was competing with a controller rather than a mouse and keyboard. Among competitive players, most believe it’s wise to play with a mouse for better precision in shooters, but Ashman believes otherwise.

Most participants at the World Cup are using Epic-issued Logitech mice, but Epic also allows competitors to use a standard Xbox One controller or Scuf Vantage controllers. Some controversy surrounded this decision because controllers are given aim-assist, but according to Epic, the same settings were used for all participants.
“They are playing with the same settings that are available on the live game,” an unnamed Epic Games representative told Polygon.
Fortnite’s solo portion of the World Cup begins today at 1:00 p.m. ET with a prize pool of $3 million. Stay tuned and keep an eye out on Game Informer to watch the competition directly from here.
