Hollywood director Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Knives Out) is apparently a big Pokémon GO fan, and to prove it, he recently directed a commercial for the upcoming Pokémon GO Fest. The commercial itself doesn’t feature any mind-blowing revelations, but hey, Johnson only had about 30 seconds to work with.
“Pokémon GO has kept me engaged with my friends remotely as I’ve been practicing physical distancing these past few months,” said Johnson. “As a longtime Pokémon trainer, it was a real pleasure working with Niantic on this spot. It was a new experience for me to direct a production remotely, and I enjoyed the highly collaborative process and think we put together a fun and upbeat commercial that fans will enjoy.”
Pokémon GO Fest is happening on July 25 and 26 and players will be able to participate by joining virtual team lounges from anywhere in the world. Here’s what you should expect from the fest.
