While we don’t know what day the PlayStation 5 is arriving, we do know that there might be many more of them coming this year than originally expected. A new report from Bloomberg states that Sony has doubled its scheduled production of PS5 for 2020, taking the total to 10 million units up from the expected 5-6 million.
2020 has been year of challenges for everyone as it deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had wide-reaching effects on almost every industry. For the gaming industry, more folks are staying in – and gaming more. Increased demand for gaming experiences is allegedly behind this effort to double production. While logistics have been an issue to deal with in the throes of the pandemic, apparently those are challenges worth addressing in order to move more units out this year.
We don’t know a day. We don’t know a price. We do know some of the games. Next gen can’t get here soon enough!
