A few weeks ago, a Ubisoft support page confirmed that PS1, PS2, and PS3 games would not be backwards compatible for PS5. In response to public outcry, the language supporting these claims was swiftly removed from the Ubisoft website. In a recent interview with The Washington Post, however, Sony CEO and President Jim Ryan stated that “99 percent” of PS4 games would be playable on PS5.
“The PS4 community will continue to be incredibly important to us for three or four years,” Ryan would later affirm. “Many will transition to PS5, we hope if we do our job well, but tens of millions will still be engaged with the PS4.”
Now that the PS5 prices and release dates have been revealed, make sure you get out there and pre-order the console (if and when you can!). Also make sure to check out all the awesome titles that come with the PlayStation Plus Collection.
