Things To Know About Fire Emblem: Three Houses

by Ashley Dias

The latest Fire Emblem is one of the games releasing this month and has a lot of hype built up for it.

Synopsis

Here, order is maintained by the Church of Seiros, which hosts the prestigious Officer’s Academy within its headquarters. You are invited to teach one of its three mighty houses, each comprised of students brimming with personality and represented by a royal from one of three territories. As their professor, you must lead your students in their academic lives and in turn-based, tactical RPG battles wrought with strategic, new twists to overcome. Which house, and which path, will you choose?

Game Play

You begin the game as either the male or female traveling mercenary in a group led by your father, Jeralt. After an unexpected incident reveals your hidden power, you’re invited to become a professor at Garreg Mach Monastery.

As a professor of an officer academy, it is your job to train up your students by assigning them tasks, offer tutoring or setting goals for them. The game operates by a calendar system where you can see an update weekly of your student’s progress.

Your weekends in game are free time to explore, engage in activities and create relationships/romances with characters in-game (and the game allows same-sex romances as well).

The battle system is a turned-based strategy combat which tests your skills and wits. You will have the opportunity to position your warriors in a grid-based map and set out a strategy. There is also a combat forecast to show predictions of what may happen to help finalize your strategy.

The game is set in two modes; Casual or Classic. In casual mode, fallen units rise again while in classic things aren’t so “nice”. Fallen units in Classic mode are gone forever. Which mode will you choose?

The Three Houses

In the game, you will need choose a house. As the name of the game says, there are three houses; The Black Eagles, The Blue Lions, and The Golden Deer.
