Company of Heroes 3 Update 3.0 Arrives November 5

Relic Entertainment is giving its WWII strategy game a major overhaul with Update 3.0, bringing new maps, smarter AI, improved visuals, and more.

Company of Heroes 3 is getting some serious reinforcements.

Relic Entertainment has announced Update 3.0, which the studio describes as the game’s biggest update since launch. Arriving November 5, 2026, on PC, the update targets nearly every part of the real-time strategy experience, from battlefield visuals and sound to AI behavior, multiplayer maps, and campaign improvements.

And with the Company of Heroes franchise celebrating its 20th anniversary, Relic isn’t exactly keeping things small.

What’s New in Company of Heroes 3 Update 3.0?

The update brings a sweeping collection of changes designed to make battles look, sound, and play better.

New snow and rain effects, improved fog, dynamic terrain wetness, and updated lighting will give battlefields more atmosphere. Players can also expect refreshed animations and new industrial, autumn, and winter environments.

On the audio side, Relic is upgrading weapon fire, explosions, and vehicle destruction sounds. Classic music from the original Company of Heroes and Company of Heroes 2 will also join the soundtrack.

But the changes aren’t just cosmetic.

Smarter AI and Campaign Improvements

Relic is also tackling how enemy forces behave on the battlefield.

Update 3.0 introduces improved late-game AI performance and a revised Combat Rating system intended to help computer-controlled units make better tactical decisions, including when to retreat.

Additional balance adjustments aim to encourage more varied strategies instead of relying on the same dominant tactics.

The single-player campaign is receiving attention, too. Relic is addressing progression-blocking issues, improving mission flow, and updating the Italian Dynamic Campaign Map with better visuals and readability.

For players who have been waiting for a more polished experience, these could be some of the update’s most meaningful changes.

Five New Multiplayer Maps Are Coming

Update 3.0 adds five multiplayer battlefields:

  • Ancona Railyard: 1v1
  • Vire River Valley: 2v2
  • Foggia Winter: 3v3
  • Turin Steelworks: 4v4
  • Radarstation Mammut: 4v4

Three existing maps are also receiving major refreshes: Langres, Mignano Summit Winter, and Rapido River Crossing.

Relic says every multiplayer map will receive some level of improvement, including adjustments to lighting, environments, weather, and gameplay.

Final Stand Gets a New Three-Player Mode

Players who own Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand aren’t being left out.

The roguelike standalone experience is receiving a substantial content update alongside 3.0, including a new three-player mode, additional units, 14 abilities, and 35 passive technologies.

A new battleground called Dam also introduces changing weather conditions that affect combat. Storms reduce visibility and unit range, while clear skies allow units to engage from farther away.

It’s the kind of environmental twist that could force players to rethink their strategy mid-battle.

When Does Company of Heroes 3 Update 3.0 Release?

Company of Heroes 3 Update 3.0 launches November 5, 2026, on PC.

The announcement arrives during the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebration, alongside other initiatives including Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition.

Whether these improvements will be enough to bring lapsed players back remains to be seen. But between smarter AI, revamped battlefields, and a substantial expansion to Final Stand, Relic is giving them plenty of reasons to take another look.
