What happens when you take the creature-collecting loop we know and love and throw it into an extraction RPG?
Apparently, you get Amiko Legends.
Aurory is giving players their first chance to jump into its upcoming creature collector extraction RPG with a free Steam demo launching October 7, just ahead of Steam Next Fest.
And yes, the easiest way to describe this one might genuinely be Pokémon meets an extraction game.
Catch Them, Fight With Them, Then Get Out Alive
In Amiko Legends, players explore an untamed world filled with creatures known as Amiko.
Rather than simply catching them and moving on, you’ll charm wild Amiko and fight alongside them as you venture deeper into the world.
But there’s a catch.
Amiko Legends incorporates extraction mechanics, meaning whatever you discover isn’t necessarily yours until you successfully make it back out.
Push farther for potentially better rewards, or play it safe and extract with what you’ve already collected.
That risk-versus-reward loop gives the familiar creature-collecting formula a pretty interesting twist.
A Creature Collector With Actual Stakes

Creature collectors tend to encourage exploration, collecting and team building.
Extraction games add an entirely different type of pressure.
Combining the two means deciding whether that next encounter is worth risking everything you’ve already picked up along the way.
Lose the run, and you may lose what you haven’t extracted.
Make it out, and those rewards are yours to keep.
That’s a very different kind of tension than we’re used to seeing from the genre.
Play the Amiko Legends Demo
The Amiko Legends demo is available free on Steam beginning October 7 and will be playable ahead of Steam Next Fest.
There’s no word yet on a full release date, but the demo should give players an early look at how well creature collecting and extraction gameplay actually work together.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this one because, frankly, we’re curious.
Creature collectors are everywhere.
Creature collector extraction RPGs? Not so much.
Amiko Legends is coming to PC via Steam.
