Nintendo Indie World

Nintendo’s October 28, 2026 Indie World Showcase came packed with cozy adventures, chaotic multiplayer games, supernatural mysteries, and enough indie releases to make our backlogs file a formal complaint.

The biggest news? Witchbrook finally has a release date, R.E.P.O. is bringing its co-op horror to Nintendo Switch 2, and several games are offering demos starting today.

Whether you’re here for witchcraft, raccoon crimes, pixel-art adventures, or a little multiplayer suffering, Nintendo’s latest indie presentation had something for you.

Here’s everything worth knowing.

Witchbrook Finally Gets a Release Date

After years of anticipation, Chucklefish has confirmed that Witchbrook launches January 28, 2027, on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

The magical life simulator takes players to Witchbrook College in the seaside town of Mossport, where they’ll attend classes, study spells, build relationships, and discover the joys of being a witch-in-training.

And yes, you’ll be able to experience the magic with friends through online multiplayer for up to four players.

Chucklefish separately confirmed the game will also launch on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5 on January 28, with Xbox Game Pass availability on day one.

Apparently, we’re all going back to school. At least this time the homework involves potions and I am enrolled!

R.E.P.O. Brings Co-op Horror to Switch 2

The physics-based multiplayer horror game R.E.P.O. is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

Players work together to recover valuable objects from haunted environments, using physics-based tools to transport everything from delicate ceramics to enormous furniture.

The problem? Terrifying creatures, unpredictable environments, and teammates who may or may not understand the concept of being careful.

Honestly, the monsters might be the least of your problems.

Sword of the Sea Arrives Tomorrow

One of the showcase’s closest releases is Sword of the Sea, arriving on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 29, 2026.

Developed by Giant Squid, the studio behind ABZÛ and The Pathless, the atmospheric adventure lets players ride a magical Hoversword across sand dunes, oceans, and mysterious landscapes.

Players explore the Necropolis and work to restore a lost ocean while building speed, discovering hidden paths, and performing tricks.

Four Indie Demos Are Coming Today

Nintendo announced free demos for four games on October 28:

  • Haunted Paws: Two adorable puppies explore a haunted mansion in a cooperative rescue adventure.
  • Petal Runner: A gorgeous pixel-art RPG featuring motorcycle couriers and digital pets.
  • RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition: A coin-pushing roguelike built around ridiculous combos and high scores.
  • Winds of Viridia: A newly revealed action-adventure featuring exploration, grappling, and a mothbug companion.

The demos are scheduled to appear on Nintendo eShop later today, so availability may vary depending on when you check.

Spirit Crossing Brings Cozy Multiplayer to Nintendo

From Spry Fox, the creators of Cozy Grove, Spirit Crossing launches November 16, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

This collaborative life-simulation MMO invites players to build homes, connect with other players, and help restore bonds between magical worlds.

It’s cozy, social, and apparently determined to make sure we never finish another game in our libraries.

Tenjutsu Brings Roguelike Combat to Switch 2

Tenjutsu, from the designer of Dead Cells, is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

The top-down roguelike brawler follows a renegade criminal battling rival syndicates in Secret Garden City.

Players will use martial arts, weapons, and fast-paced combat to dismantle the city’s criminal organizations.

Slime Rancher 2 Is Coming to Switch 2

Slime Rancher 2 arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2027.

Players return to the adventures of Beatrix LeBeau on Rainbow Island, discovering new slimes, exploring ancient mysteries, and expanding their ranch.

More slimes. More farming. More opportunities to become emotionally attached to something that looks like a sentient marshmallow.

Our Take: Indie Games Are Bringing the Variety

Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase was a reminder of why indie games deserve their own spotlight.

There’s no single formula here. We have supernatural farming, frantic multiplayer horror, atmospheric exploration, pixel-art RPGs, and games about raccoons committing petty crimes.

And frankly, we support the raccoons.

Witchbrook’s release date is likely to be one of the most exciting announcements for cozy-game fans, while R.E.P.O. and Tenjutsu offer plenty for players who prefer a little more chaos.

With several demos arriving today and more games launching throughout November, there’s no shortage of new experiences to explore.

Which Indie World announcement stole the show for you?
