Top Upcoming Indie Games of The Month | September 2019

by Ashley Dias

Better late than never and we can’t end the month without highlighting some upcoming Indie Games that caught our eye.

1. Ooblets

It’s Ooblets. It’s like Harvest Moon meets Pokémon meets Animal Crossing. You’ll like it.

You’ll be able to manage your farm, grow and train your ooblets, explore strange lands, and dance-battle wild ooblets and other ooblet trainers.

LEVEL UP’S TAKE

This adorable game combines the farming elements we know and love from games such as Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley with the “creature”-raising that we adore from Pokemon. It definitely shows some promise.

  • Release Date: TBD 2019
  • Platform(s): PC & XBox One
  • Developer: Glumberland
  • Website: https://ooblets.com

2. Sparklite

Sparklite is a brawler-adventure with procedural world generation. Battle foes in top-down action using an arsenal of gadgets, guns, and gear. Explore dangerous corners of a whimsical world, take down titans of the mining industry, and save the Sparklite!

LEVEL UP’S TAKE

We can’t help but include a 2D RPG on our list this month. This game is inspired by my all-time favorite series, Legend of Zelda, and takes some components into it. It also blends in some roguelike elements with its procedural content and randomness.

  • Release Date: November 14th
  • Platforms: PS4, Switch, PC, Xbox One
  • Developer: Red Blue Games

3. In The Valley Of Gods

From the team that brought you Firewatch, In the Valley of Gods is a sprawling narrative experience in remote, 1920s Egypt. You are Rashida, a disgraced former explorer and filmmaker given one last shot at the adventurous life you desperately miss. Somewhere, beyond the endless miles of dunes, ruins, and tombs lies an incredible archaeological discovery—but it can’t be found without the help of Zora, the former partner you vowed never to work with again.

LEVEL UP’S TAKE

This reveal trailer was beautiful and with the wonderful harmonies along with it, we are just entranced. Seeing a black woman lead in a game is always great to see and with the great world building around it… we know this will be a big contender.

4. Endling – Extinction is Forever

Will the last mother fox on Earth be able to save its three little cubs? Experience how life would be in a world ravaged by mankind through the eyes of the last fox on Earth in this eco-conscious adventure. Discover the destructive effect of the human race, which corrupts day after day the most precious and needed resources of the natural environments.

LEVEL UP’S TAKE

The story itself is enough to peak our interest. A story with a true message and it is illustrated so well that we already know that some tears may be coming.
