Kintarō has officially joined Ravenswatch, and he brought a bear. Passtech Games’ latest hero DLC is live now alongside a free update that reworks more than 50 Talents and adds new ways to play.
Ravenswatch just added one of its most unusual heroes yet.
Passtech Games has released the new Kintarō Hero DLC today, October 12, bringing the legendary figure from Japanese folklore into the game alongside his massive bear companion, Kuma.
And no, Kuma is not just there for moral support.
Kintarō and Kuma function as a dual-character fighting pair, giving players two distinct combat styles depending on whether Kintarō is riding on Kuma’s back or fighting alongside him.
The paid DLC launches alongside a substantial free update for all players, including a major Talent rework, custom lobbies, balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements.
Kintarō Brings Two Fighting Styles to Ravenswatch

Kintarō is inspired by the legendary “Golden Boy” of Japanese folklore, known for his incredible strength and connection to nature.
In Ravenswatch, that translates into a hero built around switching between two different combat approaches.
While mounted on Kuma, players can use the bear’s claws, charging attacks, leaps, and defensive roar to tear through enemies.
Dismount, and Kintarō starts swinging a gigantic axe while Kuma fights alongside him.
Yes, you basically get a giant axe and a bear.
That feels slightly unfair to the Nightmares, but we’ll allow it.
The pair share a health pool, adding another layer of strategy to how players position and control both characters.
What Comes With the Kintarō DLC?
The Kintarō DLC includes more than just the playable hero.
Players get:
- Dual gameplay built around Kintarō and Kuma
- Eight core abilities across mounted and dismounted stances
- Two Ultimate abilities
- 26 unlockable Talents
- Seven fully voiced Memoir pages
- Four unlockable outfits
- Three premium outfits
- New achievements on Steam
That makes Kintarō one of the more mechanically involved additions to Ravenswatch so far.
He joins Merlin, Romeo, and Juliet as the game’s fourth post-launch playable hero, expanding the roster to 13 characters.
The Free 1.6 Update Reworks More Than 50 Talents
Even if you are not buying the new DLC, today’s update brings plenty of changes.
Passtech Games has reworked more than 50 Talents across the existing hero roster.
Some Talents have been adjusted or buffed, while others have been replaced entirely.
The goal is to give returning players fresh ways to build each hero while improving abilities that were underused or less effective.
The update also adds custom lobbies, allowing players more control over multiplayer sessions, along with balancing and general quality-of-life improvements.
One important note: Passtech Games says runs that were already in progress before updating will be discarded because of the scope of the changes. Overall account progression remains intact.
So maybe finish that run before hitting update.
What Is Ravenswatch?
Ravenswatch is a top-down action roguelike from Passtech Games, the studio behind Curse of the Dead Gods.
Players take control of heroes inspired by myths, legends, and fairy tales, then battle through the corrupted world of Reverie.
The game features more than 250 Talents, dozens of magical items, multiple difficulty levels, custom game modes, and online cross-play co-op for up to four players.
Because apparently saving the world from nightmares is better with friends.
Or at least funnier when everyone dies together.

With a new hero, two-character combat mechanics, and a sizable overhaul to the existing roster, this is more than a small character drop.
Also, again, there is a bear.
That alone deserves consideration.
